ARTapalooza on Main

posted by on Friday, September 11, 2015

Every year, ARTapalooza entertains the entire family with activities, music, and of course, artists! Nearly 50 talented artists from all over Iowa are gathering to showcase their work at this year's show.

Join us downtown on September 12th from 9AM to 4PM  to celebrate ARTapalooza's 10th anniversary as an outdoor festival of the arts! An excellent selection of artists was juried into the show this year and we're excited to feature a variety of art, including ceramics, metal, paintings, glasswork, metal sculptures, fiber, jewelry, photography, drawing, printmaking and mixed media. This year’s group of artists created pieces that pull from a story of their past, interpretation of their experiences, and their life long passions.

We're thrilled to have freelance artists, Kathleen Roling, joining us at this year's ARTapalooza on Main fine art festival! Kathleen will be creating a beautiful chalk mural on the street at the intersection of 2nd and Main, so be sure to stop down periodically throughout the day to check out her progress!

Live entertainment will also take place throughout the day. This year's line-up includes a variety of local mucisians, zumba demonstrations, a sneak preview of the Lampost Theatre's production of "Racing the Train," balloon animals, and much more! Entertainment will be headquarterd near Cup of Joe in the 100 block and at the corner of 4th and Main throughout the day.

The kids will have plenty to do with FREE, hands-on art activities available all day. The Hearst Center will be there to paint faces, help kids make autumn necklaces and free paint on easels. Be sure to also swing by Luna Art+Wine to paint wooden silhouettes, the World's Window to create coffee filter butterflies, and Twirl Boutique to paint with bubbles!

Cedar Valley Art and Wine will also be offering a Canvas on Main activity in their new studio at 307 Main Street! Three Pines Farm will also be joining us this year! Stop by their booth to create your own vintage bracelet or trivet or try your hand at their weaving loom! There is a slight fee to participate in these activities, but all supplies are included.

Every year, ARTapalooza is an event that entertains everyone in the family.  Come on down to Main Street to enjoy the many activities and artists at this year’s ARTapalooza!
