Ice Carving during Baby, It's Cold Outside

The streets of downtown Cedar Falls will be alive with holiday magic during Baby, It’s Cold Outside on Thursday December 17th from 6-8pm!

Ice carvers will be stationed outside of Santa Cruz by Alexandra (410 Main), World's Window (214 Main) and the Blackhawk Hotel (115 Main). Watch as they use chainsaws to carefully create beautiful works of art out of ice blocks right before your eyes!

Ice LuminariesEnjoy the soft glow of hundreds of ice luminaries that will line the sidewalks as you stroll down the street to shop, dine, and greet your favorite holiday characters. And if inside is the only place you want to be, pop into some of the shops and restaurants to enjoy the sounds of fabulous choral and instrumental groups performing throughout the downtown district.

Make memories with the little ones as you enjoy several other fun activities that will be taking place from 6-8pm.  Follow the spectacular music and light show to Santa’s Workshop located at the corner of 4th and Main Streets where children can visit Santa and his elves.  Free horse-drawn trolley rides will leave from the Cedar Falls Public Library throughout the evening. A Live Nativity will be open at 6th and Main Streets outside Richardson Funeral Home.  This will be the final night for the Live Nativity and the trolley rides, so bundle up and soak in the magic of downtown!

Thanks to Tyson Foods for sponsoring the trolley rides during Baby, It’s Cold Outside and Correll, Sheerer, Benson, Engles, Galles & Demro for sponsoring the Holiday Characters. The Live Nativity is sponsored by Richardson Funeral Home, Koch Construction and Life 101.9.

Enjoy a free showing of Home Alone on Saturday, December 19th at 10 a.m. at the historic Oster Regent Theatre in downtown Cedar Falls. When the youngest McAllister, Kevin, gets left behind while the rest of his family takes off for Christmas in Paris, there is bound to be trouble just around the corner. Being home alone is all fun and games until Kevin has a run in with the town thieves, Harry and Marv. His homemade booby traps and young minded creativity is enough to fight them off for the time being, but will his family make it home in time to celebrate Christmas and save him from the treacherous thieves?

Winners of the Holiday Hoopla Coloring Contest will also be announced at the movie.

And, don’t forget, Saturday December 19th is your last chance to visit Santa and his elves in his workshop at the corner of 4th and Main from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m!

Thanks to Here’s What’s Poppin for sponsoring Movie Magic and to Farmers State Bank for sponsoring the Coloring Contest.  Supporting sponsor is Oster Regent Theatre.
