Holiday Hoopla Kicks Off with Santa's Big Arrival

posted by on Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Twas just days before Hoopla and all through downtown the HooHerd was scurrying to make final preparations for Santa’s big arrival in downtown Cedar Falls! In it’s 6th year, Holiday Hoopla continues to dazzle children of all ages with a weeks long calendar of events to celebrate the holiday season.

Each year, Holiday Hoopla kicks off on Black Friday with the highly anticipated arrival of the jolly man himself. In year’s past, Santa has appeared from a magic book, ridden in on a jumbo sleigh, flown in via helicopter, arrived by train and even rappelled down the side of a building. His arrival is always a surprise, so be sure to join us on November 28th from 6-8pm to see how he’ll appear this year!

Prior to Santa’s arrival on Friday evening, there will be a large stage at the corner of 4th and Main featuring the band WAGG and other local singers performing your favorite holiday music. Enjoy special appearances by Alvin and the chipmunks and several of your other favorite holiday characters and visit Mrs. Claus at Santa’s Workshop while you wait for Santa to arrive.

After Santa’s big arrival, make sure to join Santa and Mrs. Claus in the “Magical March Down Main Street” to the Hoopla Tree at 1st and Main where Santa will light the tree and conclude the evening with a grand winter fireworks finale over the Cedar River.  The Hibbs Memorial Bridge (North Main Bridge) will be open to the crowd, providing a spectacular view of the tree lighting and fireworks. You’ll love the energy of the evening so bundle up and come join the fun!
