Run for a Cause During the 10th Annual Pink Ribbon Run!

It is estimated that a total of 246,660 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and 61,000 women will be diagnosed with situ breast cancer in 2016. Of those diagnosed, an estimated 40,450 will lose their fight. And although a breast cancer diagnosis can feel like the end, know you are not alone. There is a support system and there is hope and here in the Cedar Valley, it comes in the form of the Beyond Pink TEAM. (Stats from http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Statistics.html)

Pink Ribbon Run

Every year, the Beyond Pink TEAM hosts countless events to rasie awareness about breast cancer and rasie funds to help those who are fighting it. The Pink Ribbon Run is one of the signature fundraising events that the Beyond Pink TEAM helps plan every year. Last year, more than 800 people registered for the annual 5K Pink Ribbon Run/Walk in downtown Cedar Falls, raising more than $49,000 to donate to the Beyond Pink TEAM, which is the largest donation the run has made in the last nine years of it's existence!

Since the Pink Ribbon Run's inception, the committee has donated over $221,000 to the Beyond Pink TEAM. All money raised by the run stays local and helps local families facing a breast cancer diagnosis. In 2015, the Beyond Pink TEAM put that money to work by awarding 79 grants to women in nine counties, with support that totaled over $63,000.

Pink Ribbon Run Survivors 2014

This year, Oakridge Realtors and the University of Iowa Community Credit Union are once again presenting sponsors of the Pink Ribbon Run, which helps to ensure that all race registrations are donated directly to the Beyond Pink TEAM. Community Auto is also once again covering registrations for any breast cancer survivors that register for the run.

Registration is still available for this year's Pink Ribbon Run, which will take place on Saturday October 1st at 8am in downtown Cedar Falls. Registration links are available here.
