Spring Break Staycation Style in the Cedar Falls Downtown District

If you are planning on staying put for Spring Break but wouldn’t mind exploring the District with the nice weather in the forecast, the merchants of the district have put together specials and activities to keep you and the kiddos busy and happy for a spring break staycation style.
As you know, so many trails lead to the Downtown District and with the weather we’ve been having, you will get to enjoy yourself on the trails. As you venture out don’t forget to stop by and check out the Plaza located at the corner of 2nd and State. It is a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, and/or one of the amazing treats that you can snag while Downtown.
Do you need a creative outlet for the kiddos? Well look no further than open studio ALL WEEK at Hatchlings & Hens! There is a make & take craft studio with everything supplied. You just supply the creativity, and they clean up the mess afterwards. If you would prefer to craft at home, they can make that happen as well. The Ragged Edge Art Bar and Gallery will be holding their Artist at the Edge Series. On March 13th from 12:00-3:00 pm meet stained glass artist, Beth Kivett. On March 25th from 12:00-3:00 meet fabric bowl artist, Mark Kay Madsen. If you haven’t checked out The Ragged Edge yet it is a gem found at 504 Bluff Street!
Maybe your Spring Break staycation includes an adult night out and if that is the case, Bar Winslow is offering a Spring Break Flight of cocktails, this flight will be four “vacation” themed craft cocktails for $20 and we are sure they will make you feel like you are on vacation!
Spring break can still be a vacation even if you stay in town! Enjoy a night out dining in the District. Speaking of marking your calendars for fun activities in the District, join us for EGGSTRAVAGANZA which includes shopping, an egg scavenger hunt and maybe even the Easter Bunny. Starting March 25th-April 3rd stop by your favorite participating locations and try your luck with some Easter eggs and maybe you’ll win a Cedar Falls Downtown District gift certificate! In addition, take part in a fun activity for the whole family! Find Easter Eggs that have been decorated and spread throughout the district, fill in the blank map letting us know where you found them and turn it into the Black Hawk Hotel OR you can turn them in on April 3rd at the Plaza from 11:00am-1:00pm where we heard the Easter Bunny, Poppy, and Branch from Trolls might just show up to say hello.
