Top 10 Things to do at Sturgis Falls!
Sturgis Falls is here again! This year's events run Thursday June 25th through Sunday June 28th. Year after year this community celebration entertains thousands with a vast variety of shows, shops, vendors, activities, and more! Here is the list of the top 10 things to do at Sturgis Falls this year. Come downtown and to Sturgis, Tourist, Gateway and Overman parks to experience it all.
Parade- This year, the parade will be on Saturday June 27th at 10AM. The parade route can be seen here, so make sure you come early to reserve your seat! The Sturgis Falls Parade features 105 different organizations this year and food and drink will be available for purchase at Overman Park.
Classic Car Show- Sturgis Falls is the place to be if you like classic cars. The annual classic car show takes place Sunday afternoon at Police Officer’s Memorial Park at the East end of Gateway Park. Over 300 cars of all makes, models, and years will be on display for your enjoyment.
Concerts- Looking for exciting and free entertainment? The concerts at Gateway and Overman Park, and the Kidsway Activity Tent offer great entertainment all weekend long. For a full list of bands and times visit the website.
Arts and Crafts Fair- Visit the nearly 60 arts and crafts vendors lined up around 3rd, Franklin, and Clay street, right next to Overman Park, Victorian Home, and the Police Department.
Sturgis Falls ½ marathon/5K- It’s not too late to sign up for the Sturgis Falls annual races! The half marathon and 5K both start at 7AM, and there is also a Kids Fun Run starting at 9:15AM. All events are on Sunday, June 28th at 7AM, beginning at the Cedar Fall Recreation Center at the corner of 13th and Main. To sign up, click here.
Gateway Market- Come see the Gateway Market in Gateway Park Friday 1PM to 10PM, Saturday 10AM to 10PM, and Sunday 10AM to 5PM. Stop by to shop for all kinds of goods.
Carnival- Located in Gateway Park, the carnival offers rides, food, beverages, and games for people of all ages. Parking is available across Lincoln Street, and more information about hours and ticket prices can be found on the website.
Cedar Falls Historical Society Museums- All of the Cedar Falls Historical Society Museums will be free of charge for the Sturgis Falls weekend! The Victorian Home, Little Red Schoolhouse, Behrens-Rapp Tourism Information Center, and the Ice House Museum will be open by noon each day this weekend. Check the website for closing times.
Bill Riley Talent Search- The Billy Riley Talent Search has been an Iowa tradition starting in 1959 at the Iowa State Fair showcasing Iowa’s best performing arts youth in competition. This year’s competition is on Friday June 26th at 6:30 at the Overman Park Band Shell Stage, and the winner will be announced at 1:00PM on Saturday June 27th.
Pool Party- Cool off after a hot summer day with a pool party at The Falls Aquatic Center (3025 South Main) FREE OF CHARGE! This event sponsored by Waterloo Tent and Shade Creations is on Saturday, June 28th from 6 to 9. Bring the family and some towels and enjoy the Sturgis Falls fun!
