Cedar Falls Community Main Street was formed in 1987 to enhance and preserve the physical environments and human resources of the downtown district. It is financed via Self Supporting Municipal Improvement District at a rate of $3.50 per $1,000 valuation ($82,000), along with a $10,000 contribution from the City of Cedar Falls. The investment certainly has paid off, with increased value of the SSMID District resulting in: - An additional $223,229 annually to City of Cedar Falls general fund
- An additional $197,445 annually to Cedar Falls Schools budget
- (plus SSMID revenue)
